Reggae and dub sound systems
Reggae and dub sound systems are where British sound system culture started. They play from hand-built stacks of scoops, kick bins and horn tops, with a selector, an operator on the pre-amp and an MC. Roots sounds like Jah Shaka, Channel One, Aba Shanti-I and King Tubby's play steppers and exclusive dubplates for a dance that runs all night, and newer crews like Sinai Sound System, Unit 137 and Iration Steppas carry the same tradition with bigger, cleaner rigs.
